Industrial visit to Master Plannary, Puttur

An industrial visit to Master Plannary, Puttur was organized on 28-9-2013, Saturday by Department of Civil Engineering, Mangalore Institute of Technology, Moodbidri for 3rd Sem students.
The visit included various aspects of Concwood products like frames of doors, windows, staircase etc. Mr.Anand Kumar, Managing Director of Master Plannary briefed about various innovative products of Master Plannary. He also focussed on the applications of Concwood products in civil engineering construction.

Technical Talk on 'Opportunities and Expectations for Civil Engineers in 21st century'

A technical talk on "Opportunities and Expectations for Civil Engineers in 21st century" was delivered by Dr.Gangadhar Mahesh, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, NITK ,Surathkal, on 23-9-2013. The programme was organised by Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (ACCE) and The Ramco Cement Limited on the account of Engineers week. This talk was initiated by Association of Civil Engineering Students, Department of Civil Engineering.
The technical talk mainly focussed on future opportunities for civil Engineers in coming years. He also talked on various upcoming projects across the world and discussed about his involvement in few projects at Honk Kong and other countries. Prof. Ganesh Mogaveer, HOD, Dept of Civil Engineering; Er.Vijay Mayya, Past Chairman of ACCE; Er.Bharath, PRO ,ACCE and Er.Suraj, Technical Manager, Ramco Cement Ltd were also present on this occasion.

Technical Talk on Virtues of Geosciences and Its Vistas in Civil Engineering Applications-A Typical Analysis

A Technical Talk on "Virtues of Geosciences and Its Vistas in Civil Engineering Applications-A Typical Analysis", was delivered, by Dr. D. Venkat Reddy, Professor, Dept of Civil Engineering, NITK, Surathkal on the 30th August 2013. He focused on the importance of Earth Science in Civil Engineering and he covered various aspects like Rock Types impact on Civil Engineering Projects. He highlighted on the Commercial/Constructional engineering Geologic inputs as well as major and micro Structural discontinuities and its impact on various civil engineering projects. The talk also included role of Lineaments and Faults in Engineering, Surface and sub-surface geology and its impact on foundation engineering with their applications, role of earth sciences in disaster management and landslides and debris flow impact on engineering structures.



ACES - Association of Civil Engineering Students was inaugurated by Sri. Premanand Shenoy, Managing Partner and Principal Consultant, Roy and Shenoy, Mangalore on 26th August 2013. Dr G L Easwara Prasad, Principal presided over the inaugural function. Dr. Jayprakash M.C, Chief coordinator of ACES welcomed the gathering. Prof Ganesh Mogaveer, Head of the department briefed about the purpose and activities of the Association. Chief Guest Sri.Premanand Shenoy highlighted the opportunities in the field of civil engineering. Toppers in the university examination were also felicitated by the chief guest Shree Premanad Shenoy.
